- It provides nutritional support specifically modified for the management of the unique nutrient needs that result from the specific disease or condition, as determined by medical evaluation;
- It is intended to be used under medical supervision; and
- It is intended only for a patient receiving active and on-going medical supervision where the patient requires medical care on a recurring basis for, among other things, instruction on the use of the medical food.

- Blurred Vision

There are many factors that lead to Dry Eye Syndrome. One of the most common factors is simply aging. Tear production normally decreases as we age, however Dry Eye can occur at any age. Other factors that contribute to Dry Eye include environmental factors as well as the use of certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. Dry climate, cigarette smoke, wind, and heating and air conditioning can definitely have an effect on your eyes. Among some of the drugs that can cause Dry Eye are antihistamines, beta-blockers, diuretics, pain relievers, and sleeping pills. If you feel like you may be suffering from Dry Eye Syndrome, it is important to let your doctor know which medications you are currently taking. |

Meibomian glands are oil-producing glands located in both the upper and lower eyelids. They number about 25 to 30 and normally slowly release oil into the tear film. This oil helps to stop the water in the tears from evaporating, thus helping to prevent dry eyes.
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction develops when the meibomian glands become inflamed and a thick paste-like substance is secreted or no oil is produced at all. This lack of oil on the tear film causes the middle aqueous layer to evaporate resulting in a condition called Evaporative Dry Eye. Severe blockage can also lead to swollen, enlarged glands (a cyst) or even infection. |
